The Friends of the Library – Dale Branch meet at the library on the third of every month at 6:00 CST.
Members share an interest in both enhancing and supporting the services the Lincoln Heritage Public Library provides. Various activities Friends members have become involved in include book sales, monthly 'Silent Auction' sales, 'Summer Reading ' programs for preschool through adult, grant writing, soliciting donations, running the Undergrounds Bookstore, and volunteering at the library. There are many opportunities for volunteers interested in enhancing their library experiences.
The Friends actively raise funds to both support the library's programs and to purchase needed hardware such as televisions, copiers, micro-fiche readers, and computers. Past fundraisers include the sale of cookbooks, gift baskets, used book sales, silent auctions, the sale of Fuller Funeral Home directories, lollipop (candy, cake, brownie, caramel corn, and rice crispy) sales, raffles, and games of skill.
In addition to raising funds, the Friends have coordinated book fairs; supported children's parties; organized the Spring Break party and Fall Break parties; coordinated mystery tea parties for the adult sleuths; provided books for the outreach Head Start Program; and, supported the Summer Reading and Home-bound Programs. Volunteers are welcome to help with all projects coordinated by the Friends.
